The Bright Raven Gymnastics Boys Teams had a very strong showing at the 2019 USA Gymnastics New York State Championships held at SUNY Brockport March 16-17 emerging with 10 State Champions and many gymnasts qualifying to advance to Regional Competition.

The Level 10 team finished in third place with 15-year-old Justin Ciccone of Greece earning gold for his performance in the vault and all-around competition. Ciccone also went on to win in the Junior Elite competition taking first place in floor exercise, vault, rings and high bar.

Aiden Arena, age 15, of Fairport earned three gold medals in the Level 9 competition finishing first in parallel bars, high bar and all around.

In the Level 7 competition, Mateo Poole of Henrietta took first place on the pommel horse, first on vault and second all around. Evan Gienau of Henrietta was first in floor exercise and third all around.

The Bright Raven Level 6 team also finished third with Milo Anderson of Fairport winning first place on high bar and second place all around.

In the Level 5 competition, 11-year-old Samuel Cohen of Brighton took first place in parallel bars.

The Bright Raven Level 4 gymnasts earned fourth place as a team with Elliot Sonneville, age 7, of Walworth earning first place in floor exercise, high bar and all around.

In the Junior Developmental competition for ages 11-12, Charlie Dovichi of Lima took first place on Rings and Matthew Rowe of North Chili earned first in floor exercise. In the 13-14 age division, Deven Weeden of North Chili earned first place in floor exercise and Cameron Conheady of Rochester was third all around.

Several members of the Bright Raven team qualified to advance in USA Gymnastics competition. Milo Anderson was named to the Level 6 New York State Team by placing in the top 10 all around across age divisions. He will travel to West Point April 28th to compete in the Region 7 State Team Championships where he will help New York take on the teams from New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. The following gymnasts will also be moving on to compete in the Region VII Championships April 4-7 in Landover, Maryland: Ryan Buick (Level 10), Justin Ciccone (Level 10), Ryan Dugan (Level 10), Cole Pringle (Level 10), Ethan Rio (Level 10), Drew Ahlastrom (Level 7), Mateo Poole (Level 7), Evan Gieneu (Level 7), Taiga Tani (Level 6), Alex MacFarlane (Level 6), Caleb Lantz( Level 6), Milo Anderson (Level 6), Kash Ames (Level 6) and Luke Sykora (Level 6).

Bright Raven Level 7/8 Gymnasts brought home a total of 12 gold Medals from the USA Women’s Gymnastics State Championships held March 8-10th in Buffalo, N.Y.

In the Level 7 Junior Divisions, Nyla Ragland of Spencerport earned gold on vault, uneven bars and all-around and silver on balance beam. Meredith Fingler of Chili earned gold on floor exercise. In the Level 7 Child Divisions, Mary Sack of Spencerport took first place on balance beam and second place on vault. Kylie Montague of Avon was first on uneven bars and third place all-around. Level the 7 Senior Divisions, gymnast Madison Maas of Churchville took first place on bars and second place all-around. Megan Robinson of Geneseo was second on floor exercise, third on uneven bars and third all-around. Madison Isenberg of Brockport placed third on vault. With 64 New York State teams represented, Bright Raven earned third place just behind New York City Elite and Mid Island Gymnastics of Hicksville.

In the Level 8 Senior Divisions, Kylie Rozzi of Spencerport placed first on balance beam, floor exercise and all-around and second place on vault. Abby Wilkins of Pittsford was first on the uneven bars and Cameron Kull, also from Pittsford, placed third on vault. In the Level 8 Junior Divisions, Jillian Ambler of Fairport was first on balance beam, second on floor exercise third on bars and second all-around. Sophia Daeschner of Spencerport placed fourth on balance beam. In the Child Age Division, Ashley Wood of Henrietta was second in the floor exercise. Out of the 52 Level 8 teams represented from around the State, Bright Raven placed ninth.

Based on their performance at the State Championship meet, five members of the Bright Raven Competitive Team will advance to the Regional level to compete in Springfield Massachusetts April 6-7th. Those gymnasts representing Bright Raven Gymnastics are Kylie Rozzi, Jillian Ambler, Nyla Ragland, Mary Sack, and Kylie Montague.
