Bright Raven Gymnasts Bring Home Gold from States

Level 6 Team

Members of the girls Bright Raven Gymnastics team traveled to Patchogue, New York to compete in the USA Gymnastics Level 5/6 State Championships April 20 – 22 and brought home gold medals in many divisions.

In the Level 6 competition, 15-year-old Aliyah Gibson of Chili took first in vault and all around. In Junior divisions, 12-year-old Carly Liberman of Pittsford took first place in both floor exercise and all around and Katie Kull, also age 12, of Pittsford earned second all around.

In the Level 5 Senior A competition, 12-year–old Lia Brasacchio of Victor took first on vault, uneven parallel bars and all around. Teammate, Kendall Mesh of Spencerport was first on balance beam, floor exercise and second all around. In the Senior B Division, Meredith Fingler of Chili was first on floor exercise and all around. In the Senior D division, Emily Post of Spencerport won gold on bars, floor and all around. Katrina Daly of Spencerport won balance beam and took home the silver in all around and Olivia Bieber of Albion earned bronze in the all around. In the Senior C division, Natalie Wood of Henrietta finished third all around.

In the Level 5 Junior D division, 11-year-old Nyla Ragland of Spencerport took home four gold medals: vault, uneven bars, balance beam and all around. Morgan Sizer of West Henrietta was the first place winner on floor exercise and finished third all around. In the Junior B division, Paige Evans of Greece earned first place on vault and Kylie Montague of Avon was second all around. Mary Sack Spencerport earned second all around in the Junior A division.

The top five scores in each event comprised the team score at the State Championships. The Bright Raven Level 5 team earned second place with a total score of 188.50 in a field of 48 teams.

Gymnasts Win Gold at State Championships

Six Bright Raven Gymnasts brought home a total of eleven gold medals at the USA Women’s Gymnastics Level 7/8 State Championships held in Buffalo earlier this month. In the Level 7 Senior B Division, 14-year-old Madison Isenberg of Brockport earned three finishing first on the uneven parallel bars, first on balance beam and first all around. In the Senior E Division Abby Wilkins, age 16 of Pittsford took first place all around, first on the uneven parallel bars and third in floor exercise. 12-year-old Sophia Daeschner of Spencerport earned first place on vault and third all around in the Junior D Division. In the Junior E Division, Megan Robinson of Geneseo placed second on bars and third on floor.

In the Level 8 Senior B competition, 15-year-old Naimah Muhammad of Rochester captured first place in the all-around competition and first in two events: vault and uneven parallel bars. 13-year-old Kylie Rozzi of Spencerport earned gold on balance beam and placed third on floor and second all around in the Level 8 Junior C Division. In the same division, Liliana Sack of Spencerport took first place on the uneven bars and third in floor exercise. In the Junior A Division, Jillian Amber of Fairport earned third place in vault. With 56 teams represented at the State Championships, the Bright Raven Level 8 team finished in fifth place with Ashley Wood of Henrietta and Madeline Pitts of Victor also contributing to the Level 8 team effort.

Madison Isenberg, Naimah Muhammad, Kylie Rozzi, Liliana Sack and Jillian Ambler earned high all around scores at the State Meet qualifying them to advance to the Regional Championships to be held April 28-29 in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Bright Raven Boys Medal at States and Advance in Competition

The Bright Raven Gymnastics Boys Teams had a strong showing at the 2018 USA Gymnastics New York State Championships held in Binghamton March 16-18 emerging with 4 State Champions and many gymnasts qualifying to advance to Regional Competition.

The Level 9 team finished in second place with Justin Ciccone of Greece earning gold for his performance in high bar competition and placing second on vault and third on rings. Teammate Cole Pringle of Pittsford earned gold in floor exercise competition and Ethan Rio of Avon finished second on floor, second on parallel bars and third all around. Ciccone also went on to win in the Junior Elite competition taking first place in floor exercise, vault and rings.

Aiden Arena, age 14, of Fairport earned silver in the Level 7 vault competition.

The Bright Raven Level 6 team also finished second with Evan Gienau of Henrietta winning first place on high bar and third place on vault in Division 1 for ages 12 and over. In Division 2, 10-year-old Kaden Smeenk of Penfield placed second on vault and third in floor exercise, high bar and all around.

In the Level 5 competition,8-year-old Kash Ames of Webster took first place in both parallel bars and all around competition. Ames also was awarded second place on rings, second on high bar and third on both vault and floor exercise. Caleb Lantz of Henrietta finished third on rings in the 10-year-old division and Jake Robbins of Webster was third on rings in the 11-year-old division.

In the Level 4 competition 9-year-old Aidan Kelly of Holley took second place on vault. 10-year-old Matthew Rowe of North Chili was second on floor and third on the parallel bars.

Several members of the Bright Raven team qualified to advance in USA Gymnastics competition. Drew Ahlstrom (Level 6) & Kash Ames (Level 5) were named to the New York State Team by placing in the top 10 all around across age divisions in their respective levels. They will travel to West Point April 29th to compete in the Region 7 State Team Championships where they will help New York take on the teams from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. The following nine gymnasts will be moving on to compete in the Region VII Championships April 5 – 8 in Lincroft, New Jersey: Drew Ahlstrom (Level 6), Mateo Poole (Level 6), Evan Gienau (Level 6), Ryan Dugan (Level 9), Cole Pringle (Level 9), Justin Ciccone (Level 9), Ethan Rio (Level 9), Brian Cannon (Level 10), Ryan Buick (Level 10).

Bright Raven Gymnasts Medal at State Meet

Bright Raven gymnasts traveled to Suffern, New York to compete in the Women’s USA Gymnastics Level 9 and Xcel State Championships held at Rockland Community College March 16-18 earning medals and qualifying to represent New York State at Regionals.

16-year-old Emily Field of Greece competed in the Level 9 Senior B division and earned first place for her performance in the uneven parallel bar competition. Teammate Sydney Sack of Spencerport competed in the Level 9 Junior B division and earned second place on the uneven parallel bars. Both girls earned high all around scores qualifying them to advance to the Regional Championships to be held in Springfield, Massachusetts April 13-15.

In the Xcel Gold Junior A division, Nia Semon of Henrietta took first place in floor exercise. In the Gold Senior A division, Nicole Berenbaum of Rochester earned second place all around and Kylie Willis of Greece took second place in vault. Bailee Schirano of Spencerport competed in the Xcel Platinum Senior C division and earned second place on balance beam. Anna Trapani of Spencerport took third place on bars in the Xcel Silver Senior D division.

Bright Raven Gymnasts Compete Across New York State

Level 9 Boys Beast of the East Meet 2018

On the weekend of February 10-11, gymnast from the Bright Raven Boys Teams traveled to Plainview, NY to compete in the Beast of the East Invitational. The Level 9 Boys Team placed first overall with Justin Ciccone of Greece winning the All-Around, Pommel Horse, Still Rings, Vault, and High Bar. Cole Pringle of Pittsford was third All-Around and won the Floor Exercise, while Ethan Rio of Avon won the Parallel Bars. In the Level 6 competition Milo Anderson of Penfield placed second All-Around to lead the Level 6 Boys Team to a third place finish.

The Level 4 and 5 Bright Raven Boys Teams competed at the Victory Classic in Greece, NY where the Level 4 Team placed second overall. Aidan Kelley of Holley won the Floor Exercise and Parallel Bars and finished third All-Around. The Level 5 Team also placed second overall, led by Kash Ames of Webster and Luke Sykora of Chili finishing second and third All-Around, respectively. Kash placed first in the Floor Exercise and High Bar, while Tyler Caballero of Chili won the Parallel Bars.

Bright Raven Gymnasts Win in Boston

Bright Raven Gymnastics girl’s teams traveled to Boston January 7th to compete in the Little Boston Invitational. More than 50 teams were represented from throughout the country at this USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic competition where Bright Raven finished first as a team in two levels and took many top individual awards.

Bright Raven’s Level 5 team took first place with Emily Post, age 13 of Spencerport capturing first place all around and winning two events: vault and uneven bars Senior Division. In the same age division, teammates Natalie Wood of Henrietta and Katie Bradfield of Spencerport tied for first on balance beam and Caroline Garbe of Webster took first in floor exercise. In the Junior Division, 11-year-old Morgan Sizer of West Henrietta tied with teammate Nyla Ragland of Rochester for first place on the uneven bars. Ragland also took first on floor exercise and first all around and Meredith Fingler of Chili finished first on vault. In the Intermediate Division, Kylie Montague, age 10 of Avon won vault, floor and all around. Mary Sack of Spencerport tied with Montague for first on floor and also won uneven bars.

Bright Raven’s Level 4 Team also brought home the first place team banner with 9-year-old Alexis Gerig of Greece taking first all around and first on both the uneven bars and balance beam in the Child Division. In the Junior Division, Heidi Tran of Gates earned first place in floor exercise and Maya Thomas of Penfield was first on the uneven bars. Kailey Tran, age 11 of Gates took first on floor exercise in the Senior Division.

The Level 3 team brought home the second place team banner finishing just behind New York City Elite Gymnastics. In the Senior Division 10-year-old Mary Cook of Brockport earned first place all around and first on bars. Isabella Curtis of Avon was first on floor and Abby D’Ambrosia of Brockport was first on vault. In the Junior Division, Sophia Hogan, age 9 took first place in floor exercise.

Gymnast Qualifies for National Judges Cup

Bright Raven Gymnast, Madison Isenberg of Brockport qualified to represent the New York North Chapter of the National Association of Women’s Gymnastics Judges at the National Judges Cup to be held January 6-7 in Portland, Oregon

Isenberg earned the opportunity to represent Upstate New York by having one of the highest all around scores at the local Judges Cup held in Rochester in November. Only the top seven Level 7 all around competitors will travel to Oregon for this prestigious competition. Thirteen-year-old Madison Isenberg was first all around in the Junior Age Division with a high score of 36.80. She was also first on the uneven bars (9.725) and third in floor exercise (9.35).

Bright Raven Gymnasts Compete in Upstate Championships

The Bright Raven Level 3 and 4 teams both finished second in the field of 26 teams represented at the USA Gymnastics Upstate New York Championships held in Syracuse May 19-21 where many champions were named by taking first place in their respective divisions in individual events and all around competition.

In the Level 4 Child C division, 9-year-old Mary Sack of Spencerport tied with teammate Kylie Montague of Avon for first place in vault. In the Junior A division, Mia Perno of Chili took first place on floor exercise. There was a three way tie for first place on the uneven bars in Junior B division with Bright Raven gymnasts Kendall Mesh of Spencerport, Morgan Sizer of West Henrietta and Nyla Ragland of Spencerport. 10-year-old Nyla Ragland also took first on floor exercise and Morgan Sizer also won vault and all around. In the Senior B division, 12-year-old Katrina Daly of Spencerport was first on balance beam. 13-year-old Vanessa Santiago of Greece earned first place on balance beam and all around in the Senior C division.

In the Level 3 Junior C competition, Heidi Tran of Gates finished first on the uneven bars, floor exercise and all around. Teammate Peyton Petrillo of Brockport was first on balance beam in the same division. In the Senior E division, Rebecca Bready of Gates won first place all around, first on the uneven parallel bars and tied for first on balance beam with teammate Gabrielle Lavallee of Gates. In the Senior D division, Gabriela Barelli of Rochester was first on vault. 11-year-old Kailey Tran of Gates earned first place in vault, balance beam and all around in the Senior C division. 8-year-old Alexis Gerig of Greece took first place on the uneven bars, floor exercise and all around in the Child D division and Kennedi Gadsden of Greece was first on bars in the Child E division.

Bright Raven Gymnasts Medal at State Championships

Five Bright Raven Gymnasts earned gold medals in their respective divisions at the USA Gymnastics Level 5/6 State Championships held in Rochester May 12-14 at Monroe Community College. In the Level 6 competition, 14-year-old Aliyah Gibson of Chili took first place on vault, balance beam and floor exercise in the Senior C Division. In the all around competition, she placed second. 11-year-old Carly Liberman of Pittsford earned first place in floor exercise and third place in vault and beam in the Level 6 Junior A division. Madison Maas of Churchville placed second all around and second in two events: uneven bars and floor exercise in the Level 6 Senior D division.

In the Level 5 Senior D division, 14-year-old Jessica Pelkey of Caledonia finished first in all around competition and was also first on balance beam, first on floor exercise and second on the uneven parallel bars. 12-year-old Gabriella White of Ogden was first in both balance beam and floor exercise in the Senior B division. 11-year old Meredith Fingler of Chili competed in the Junior C division also winning gold in both balance beam in floor exercise and finishing third on the uneven bars. In the Senior C division, Emily Post of Spencerport placed second on floor, third on the uneven bars and third all around. Paige Evans of Greece took second place on vault in the Child C division. Grace Gocher of Chili was third in floor exercise in the Junior D division and Sophia Daeschner of Ogden was third on the uneven bars in the Senior A division.

The Bright Raven Level 5 team finished in third place as a team with 39 New York State Teams represented.

Bright Raven Gymnasts are Regional Champions

Four Bright Raven Gymnasts competed in the USA Gymnastics Level 7/8 Regional 6 Championships held April 22-23 in Springfield, Massachusetts winning several honors with two emerging as floor exercise champions in their respective divisions.

10 year old Ashley Wood of Henrietta competed in the Level 7 Child B division and took first place in floor exercise. Madeline Pitts, age 12, of Victor won floor exercise in the Junior C division and placed third on vault.

In the Senior B Level 7 competition, 14 year old Naimah Muhammad of Rochester earned three bronze medals placing third on vault, uneven parallel bars and all around.

15 year old Emily Field of Greece competed in the Level 8 Senior B division and placed third on bars.

The USAG Region 6 Championships included gymnasts from all of the New England States in addition to New York. Gymnasts qualified to compete in the Regional Championship by earning high all around scores at their individual State Championships.
